Laser Seborrheic Keratosis Treatment

Restore Smooth, Even Skin with Advanced Laser Precision — The Trusted, Non-Surgical Solution for Removing Waxy, Wart-Like Lesions

Seborrheic keratosis is one of the most common non-cancerous skin growths that tends to develop as we age. Although these lesions can appear alarming, they are entirely benign and pose no threat to your health. The only problem is that many people choose to have them removed either for cosmetic reasons or due to discomfort when they become irritated by clothing or physical contact.

At Babyface Beauty Wellness, we offer a highly effective, non-invasive option for removing seborrheic keratoses using Fotona® laser technology. This advanced treatment method provides precision targeting, minimal discomfort, and little to no downtime, an ideal treatment for those seeking safe, cosmetically pleasing results.

Before and After

What Is Seborrheic Keratosis?

Seborrheic keratosis (SK) is a benign epidermal lesion that usually appears as a raised, scaly, or waxy growth on the skin. Its color ranges from light tan to dark brown or black, often appearing to grow from outside the skin instead of within it.

Common Features of Seborrheic Keratoses

  • Found most often on the face, chest, back, and shoulders
  • May appear as single growths or in clusters
  • Typically feel rough, waxy, or scaly to the touch
  • Often have a pasted-on or warty appearance

While these lesions are not contagious or dangerous, they can sometimes resemble other skin conditions—particularly melanoma. For this reason, it’s important to seek evaluation from a medical professional if you’re uncertain about the nature of any skin growth.

What Causes Seborrheic Keratosis?

Despite the fact that the exact cause of seborrheic keratosis is unknown, several contributing factors have been identified:

  • Age: Most common in individuals over 40 years old
  • Genetics: A family history of seborrheic keratoses may increase your risk
  • Sun Exposure: UV exposure may contribute to the development of these lesions over time

Seborrheic keratoses may appear gradually and increase in number with age.

Why is Laser Treatment the Gold Standard for SK Removal?

Though SKs are benign, many patients opt for removal due to cosmetic concerns or recurrent irritation. Traditional treatments such as cryotherapy, curettage, or electrocautery may be effective, but often involve discomfort and longer recovery times. Laser therapy, on the other hand, offers a gentle and precise solution with aesthetic advantages.

Top Benefits of Laser Removal with Fotona® Technology

  • Exceptional Precision

Our Fotona® laser can selectively target and vaporize seborrheic keratoses without harming surrounding tissue, reducing the risk of complications and improving cosmetic outcomes.

  • Non-Invasive Procedure

Laser removal is completely incision-free, requiring no stitches or cutting. This significantly reduces your risk of infection and post-treatment scarring.

  • Minimal Scarring

Unlike methods that scrape or freeze the lesion, laser treatment gently removes the lesion layer by layer, promoting a smoother, more uniform skin surface post-treatment.

  • Fast and Efficient

Most treatments are completed in a single session, with the actual procedure lasting only a few minutes depending on the number and size of lesions.

  • Quick Recovery with Minimal Discomfort

Patients typically experience only mild redness or swelling, which fades within a few days. A small scab may form over the treated area, which naturally falls off during the healing process.

  • Ideal for Cosmetic Areas

Laser treatment is particularly well-suited for lesions on the face and neck, where appearance and minimal downtime are a priority.

Pre-Treatment Instructions:

Before undergoing laser treatment for seborrheic keratosis, follow these steps:

  • Medical Evaluation: If a lesion appears irregular or has changed in color, size, or shape, it should be assessed by a dermatologist to rule out malignancy.
  • Sun Protection: Avoid sun exposure to the treatment area for at least two weeks before your appointment.
  • Clean Skin: Arrive with a freshly cleansed face or treatment area—free of makeup, lotion, or sunscreen.

Post-Treatment Care:

To ensure optimal healing and the best cosmetic result:

  •  Apply Re-Epithelizing Cream: Use a healing cream as directed to soothe the skin and support regeneration.
  •  Expect a Small Scab: Small scab may form and remain for 5–7 days. Allow it to fall off naturally—do not pick or scratch.
  • Sun Protection is Essential: SPF 30 or higher daily on treated areas to prevent post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).
  • Use Steroid Cream if Recommended: For darker skin tones, your provider may advise a topical corticosteroid twice a day for 5–7 days to reduce the risk of pigmentation changes.

Treatment Plan and Results

Most patients achieve desired results in just one treatment, although multiple lesions or stubborn growths may require 2–3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart.

  • Initial Series: 1–3 sessions
  • Visible Improvement: Often seen after just one treatment
  • Maintenance: Rarely needed, unless new lesions develop over time

FAQS

Seborrheic keratoses are benign skin growths and pose no health threat. However, they can resemble more serious lesions, so professional evaluation is important.

Most patients experience only mild discomfort, often described as a warm or tingling sensation. Anesthetic is generally not required.

Scarring is rare. The laser’s precision allows for controlled lesion removal with minimal skin trauma, promoting a smooth recovery.

Most people experience full recovery within 7–10 days. A small scab may form and naturally flake off as the skin heals.

Treated lesions typically do not return. However, new ones may develop over time, especially with continued sun exposure or aging.

Our Fotona® laser system is adjustable, allowing for safe treatment across a wide range of skin tones with minimal risk of pigmentation issues.
