Generally speaking, sebaceous hyperplasia is characterized by small, soft, yellowish or flesh-toned bumps that typically appear on the face. These bumps are the result of enlarged sebaceous (oil) glands, often showing up on the forehead, cheeks, and nose, though they may also develop on other areas rich in oil glands. While harmless, sebaceous hyperplasia can be a source of cosmetic concern, especially when the bumps multiply or become more visible over time.
At Babyface Beauty Wellness, we offer a cutting-edge laser treatment for sebaceous hyperplasia that delivers safe, effective results with minimal discomfort or downtime. By utilizing advanced laser technology such as the Er:YAG and Nd:YAG lasers, we can precisely target and reduce the overactive glands responsible for the condition, helping to restore your skin’s smooth and even texture.
Your skin’s sebaceous glands produce sebum, which keeps it moisturized and protected. However, in sebaceous hyperplasia, these glands become enlarged and overactive, leading to small bumps that often have a central depression or “dimple” in the middle.
Though not dangerous, many individuals seek treatment to improve the appearance of their skin or to avoid confusion with other skin conditions.
Traditional treatments—like cryotherapy, electrocautery, or topical agents—may offer temporary results, but they can also pose risks of scarring, pigment changes, or incomplete lesion removal. Laser therapy, especially with our Fotona® Er:YAG and Nd:YAG systems, provides a non-invasive alternative that is more precise and effective.
Every case of sebaceous hyperplasia is unique. Most patients see visible improvement after just one treatment, though a series of sessions may be recommended depending on the number and size of the lesions.

Any lesion that appears atypical or suspicious must be evaluated by your dermatologist before proceeding with laser treatment.
Minimize direct sun exposure for at least two weeks before treatment, and avoid tanning beds.
Please arrive with clean, makeup-free skin. Avoid applying any lotions, creams, or serums to the treatment area on the day of your appointment.
Apply the recommended healing cream several times daily to aid in skin recovery.
A tiny scab may form at the treatment site and typically falls off within 5-7 days. Do not pick or scratch the area.
These can help ease any minor redness or irritation.
Apply SPF 30+ daily to protect healing skin and prevent hyperpigmentation.
Keep your skin well-hydrated during the healing process to support optimal regeneration.
Most patients find the procedure to be comfortable, with only a mild warming or tingling sensation. Numbing cream is available but often not necessary.
Treating small areas usually takes 15-30 minutes, depending on the number of lesions.
Laser treatment removes existing lesions, but new bumps may develop if the underlying causes persist. However, recurrence is significantly reduced compared to other methods.
Although sebaceous hyperplasia most commonly occurs on the face, it can be treated in any area where sebaceous glands are present.
Our Fotona® laser technology includes customizable settings, making it safe and effective for a variety of skin types with a low risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation.
Many patients see results after a single session, but larger or multiple lesions may require a few sessions for full clearance.
